Apple Announces iPhone 17, Air & Pro: What’s New?

For all of you iPhone lovers, or if you’re planning to make the switch to own an iPhone, Apple has recently introduced the latest iPhone 17 lineup! There are up to 4 models which are: iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max.

iPhone 17

The iPhone 17 model features a large 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120Hz, offering a higher refresh rate. Besides that, it also includes Dual Fusion rear cameras consisting of a 48MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide, with a 24MP front camera to take crystal-clear selfies. 

It also comes with an A19 chipset and an 8GB RAM alongside a long-lasting 3600mAh battery capacity, which offers up to ~30 hours of video playback.

iPhone Air

If you’re tired of bulky or heavy iPhones, this model is for you. The iPhone Air features an ultra-thin body of 5.6mm in thickness and is known as the thinnest iPhone so far. It also has a 6.6-inch OLED panel and a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion support up to 120Hz. 

Additionally, it uses the A19 Pro chip, similar to the Pro models, with a single 48MP rear camera and an 18MP front camera. The battery capacity is relatively smaller than that of the iPhone 17, allowing up to 27 hours of video playback. Compared to other iPhone models in the lineup, the iPhone Air only supports e-SIM, not a physical SIM card.

iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro  Max use an A19 Pro chip, offering a high-performance GPU while also offering a new rear camera design. Both of them use the Super Retina XDR displays that support up to 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of screen sizes, the 17 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch screen while the Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch screen. 

Both models also consist of the triple 48MP rear camera (wide, ultrawide and Tetraprism telephoto) with a 24MP front camera, but the Pro Max includes an additional 8K video recording feature. As for the video playback, the iPhone Pro offers up to 31 hours while the Pro Max offers up to 37 hours. Both are able to charge up to 50% in just 20 minutes. 

Furthermore, the new vapour chamber design provides 40% better continuous performance, such as for gaming or shooting videos, than the previous models.

The pre-order date officially starts on 12th September 2025 at 8pm. The first store release will be on 19th September 2025.
